A young man hitchhikes through the sweeping landscapes of New Zealand, searching for the birth mother he has never known and, through her, a clearer sense of who he is. On the road he is picked up by an intimidating, heavily tattooed stranger, and the encounter reshapes his idea of what family really means. The journey reaches a painful emotional turn before it finds room for compassion and comfort.
