In a picturesque village in the French countryside, locals resent the English tourists who flock to their town. The baker makes his daughter Claudia bake deliberately inedible bread to drive them off, and when that fails he plans to taint the loaves. Uneasy but obedient, Claudia goes along until a charming Englishman and his cheeky niece walk into the shop, sparking a romance that gives her the courage to stand up to her domineering father.
